Nuhu scored all three goals in the second half and believe the team is now certain to qualify to the middle league. • 4th March,2014. BABA MUBARAK RIGHT WITH ALHASSAN KALUSHA Utrecht division one winger Baba Mubara[ messi] says he and his team mates must improve if it wants to catch Guan United and RTU in the race for places to the middle league, on the back of a 1-1draw with Bolga All Stars on Sunday. The white and reds' 1-1 draw with the Bolga side gave Utrecht the incentive of being able to move to within five points of coach Dawuoo,s  side at the summit with a draw doing into the last three games of the season. Utrecht duly delivered, but it was not as comfortable as the scoreline suggested as Razak Patrict put the Tamale based side1-0 ahead, before controversial penalty gifted the upper east region side a point. Although Utrecht squandered a host of chances, it did eventually create some breathing space as experienced duo Abdulai Alhassan and Vincent Deyi tormented their opponent’s defense in the final 10 minutes, and Mubarak admitted that his side was nowhere near its best. "It was not our best game, but we're a little closer to the leaders," the attacking winger told tufaghanafc.comUTRECHT MUST IMPROVE TO CATCH GUAN AND RTU, SAYS BABA MUBARAK

The event was to recount the highlights of the academy in the calendar year while rewarding deserving employees and students for their hardwork. In the year under review; three students signed professional contracts with European clubs, five graduates were awarded full scholarships to pursue further education in the US and one of their own, Mohammed Abu won three caps for the Ghana national team, the Black Stars. Awards were presented to students for excelling in the various categories based on academics, behaviour and football performance. The students reciprocated the gesture by humourously presenting awards for the ‘Dirtiest department and member of staff” in their bid to promote personal hygiene at the academy. The event was lightened up when the professional players and students challenged each other on the dance floor to cap a very eventful occasion. • 13 December, 2011 Tamale Utrecht FC today fought from a goal down to win 2-1 against Jakpa Warriors in a difficult match played at the Salaga Park. The MTN FA cup match which was originally scheduled for the Tamale sport stadium was shifted to the fenceless Salaga park by the Northern Region Football Association with reasons best known to the RFA. However TUFC accepted the challenge and travelled in the morning of the match through the rocky road to Salaga and was also cowed to play the match under bad pitch conditions. The match started 15 minutes late due to the late arrival of the home team but was the first to score in the game after 20 minutes of proceedings. TUFC failed to equalize after recording misses from Alhassan Kalusha , Jafaru A. Somed and Iddrisu Osman. In the second half TUFC made changes to the lineup bringing in Alidu Yakubu for Alhassan Kalusha and introducing Tahiru Benzema for Jafaru A. Somed. Also Adam A. Basit warmed into the game for Adam Ibrahim. TUFC continued dominance over their host and continued to miss countless opportunities until striker Tahir Benzema’s kick rebounded for Iddrisu Osman to hit into the net for TUFC equalizer. The visitors maintained their form at this stage and dominated play in search for the win. Petit dribbling wizard Alidu Yakubu’s efforts in the game was rewarded in the game when he run down the right flank to nod home a cross from Vincent Dey to seal a win for his side on the full time mark. Coach  muazz choo said ‘ the substitutions we made were very good for us and that change our game to give us the win. We could have won on a wider margin but the qualification to the next round of the competition is what is desired. line-up TUFC CLEARS FIRST HURDLE IN MTN FA CUP

  • 4th December, 2011 Tamale Utrecht Football Club (TUFC) are still unbeaten in their pre-season friendly matches after holding Bolga Allstars to a pulsating goalless drawn game on Sunday at the Bolga park. The host that played former RTU defender Naziru Issah and a couple of experienced players offered TUFC stiff opposition justifying the quality of the team that lost narrowly by a lone goal to defending premier league champions Berekum Chelsea in last year’s MTN FA cup competition. Allstars failed to qualify to this year’s division one league on a disciplinary committee ruling against them after playing in the final with Bongo FC. They made early signs of taking control of the game. However TUFC accepted the challenge and got settled after 15 minutes of proceedings creating some few chances but failed to score. TUFC striker Tahir Abdul Moomin who had only goalkeeper to beat shot wide whilst Iddrisu Osman failed to capitalized on a defensive mix up to score from close range. Jafaru A. Somed and Alhassan Kalusha both created chances but failed to slip the ball at the back of the net. Defender Tuarik Musah, Jafaru A. Somed and Alhassan Salam were substituted for Mohammed Kassim, Yussis A. Basit and Alidu Mohammed Awal respectively after sustaining injuries in the first half. In the second half Adam A. Basit was also substituted for Zakariah Blaise Timtooni whilst Alhassan Kalusha made his position available for Alidu Yakubu. The changes impacted positively for TUFC that took absolute control of the game playing their host in their half but once again failed to grab the scoring opportunities that came their way ending the game in a share of the spoils. TUFC assistant Coach Muniru Aziz blamed his team lack of goals to anxiety on the players but however commended the playing body for their performance. ’Every player in the team contributed in equal measure as any other player did and is good to build a team with strong bench that could change a game in any circumstance positively’ Aziz said. • 30th November, 2011 Tamale Utrecht Football Club today mauled Sankpala United 7-1 at the Batco field in a pre-season friendly match. The win is a second after TUFC beat T-Poly 5-1 last Sunday as part of the club preparations for the 2011/2012 season. Adam A. Basit and Simon Blaise Timtooni got a brace each in the first and second half respectively. Adam converted from the spot in the 6thminute and scored again in the 37thminute whilst Simon Balise Timtooni also converted from the spot in the 81 minute and headed home his second in the 86 minute. TUFC was put ahead in the game early in the 4thminute through Nana Ackon and conceded an own goal after Isshaku A. Kadiri misdirected his kick into the net for a Sankpala United consolation. • 10th October, 2011 Ibrahim Adam in aerial challenge           Tamale Utrecht football club on Monday played a goalless game that was abandoned mid-way in the second half by referees after they were chased away by rampaging supporters in the regional el-classico game against Galaxy FC. The two sides were drawing goalless until a penalty was awarded to TUFC after Jafaru A. Somed was brought down in the penalty area by the Galaxy FC goalkeeper. Referee A. A. Alhassan’s decision for a penalty and a red card to the goalkeeper invited an attack on him from angry fans of Galaxy FC. The helpless referee was beaten up, his dress torn and subsequently chased out of the field ending the gruelling encounter abruptly with some fans disappointed for the behaviour of their colleagues. Earlier Galaxy FC wasted a penalty in the first half after Muniru Aziz had committed a foul in his area. Alhassan Mohammed received a red card after a second bookable offence when the defender challenged the referee’s decision for the penalty against TUFC. dejected fans     Scores of Fans were still bemoaning over the incidence moments after the crowd pulling game had ended at the Tamale Kaladan park. The other zone 1 match was not played following the withdrawal of Tamale Allstars in the said match citing lack of confidence in the officiating officials. 10 clubs including TUFC have therefore been confirmed to move to the next phase of the competition that is scheduled to start on Wednesday October 12.The RFA is expected to release the groupings and fixtures tomorrow. elated Captain Muniru Aziz, Abass Yussif and Hamdan Yakubu       The other clubs include, Dynamos FC, Liberty Babies, Shakur FC, Sawla United, Savelugu Yoo FC, Lingbinsi FC, Salaga Linto United, Gushegu FC and Kumbugu Binben United. • 8th  October, 2011 Samson Siasia - Nigeria Head coach     Nigeria have failed to qualify for the African Cup of Nations for the first time since 1986 after a last-minute goal from Guinea saw them draw their final qualifier 2-2. Against the run of play, Ismael Bangoura gave Guinea the lead in the second half but Victor Obinna levelled. Nigeria then went ahead as substitute Ike Uche scored, but Ibrahim Diallo struck with seconds remaining to knock out the Super Eagles who join African giants Cameroon and Egypt in failing to make it to the tournament hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. "We want to apologise to all Nigerians. We have not qualified for the Nations Cup and we take responsibility as a team," coach Samson Siasia said. "We did our best, we dominated the game, we created chances, but we failed to take our chances and we gave up a last minute goal. We understand the frustration of the fans because they love their team so much. But sometimes, football can be cruel." South Africa suffered heartbreak after thinking they were through following a 0-0 draw with Sierra Leone. Bafana Bafana celebrated at the end of the game as Niger lost 3-0 to Egypt, but the record in Group G favoured Niger and they progress to the finals for the first time. Egypt, the winners of the ANC, were already out having lost three of their six games, but the other three teams finished on nine points each. Instead of head-to-head record (which would have seen South Africa through), CAF used a mini-league between the three of them, of which Niger came top. Meanwhile Ghana maintained their unbeaten record in qualifying to finish three points ahead of opponents Sudan and claim top spot in Group I. Al Ain striker Asamoah Gyan opened the scoring early on, before skipper John Mensah doubled the lead in the 21st minute to finish the game off. Midfielder Isaac Vorsah was sent off for an off the ball incident after the break, but ten-man the Black Stars held on to record a 2-0 victory and seal their progress. Tunisia had to rely on a huge stroke of luck, but qualified behind Botswana as they beat ten-man Togo 2-0 and Chad grabbed a last-minute 2-2 draw with Malawi. Goals from Walid Hichri and Saber Khelifa gave the Carthage Eagles the best chance of making it to the finals - in a group that has two guaranteed qualifiers thanks to having five teams - but it was a last-gasp equaliser from Chad in N'Djamena that saw them progress. Zimbabwe would have caused an upset to qualify if they have not lost 2-1 to Cape Verde. Two quickfire goals saw the end of their hopes, despite Cuthbert Malajila's late strike, but it was even worse as Mali were held 2-2 by Liberia. The Warriors had needed group leaders Mali not to win and they will now rue their missed opportunity. Angola made sure of their place as they beat Guinea-Bissau 2-0 thanks to goals from Manucho and Mateus. However, they also needed to better the result of Uganda, which they did as the Ugandans were held to a 0-0 draw by Kenya in Kampala. Zambia also sealed their place at the finals despite being held to a 0-0 draw by Libya in Chingola. Libya needed to rely on their defensive efforts to keep the tie goalless, with 39-year-old goalkeeper Samir Aboud in excellent form, while Zambia also hit the woodwork twice. A point was enough for Zambia though, while their North African rivals also go through as one of the best runners-up.   A number of games had no impact on qualifying, as the teams involved were already unable to seal a place in the final tournament. Mozambique beat minnows Comoros 3-0, while Ethiopia coach Tom Saintfiet picked up his first win for the country - 4-2 over Madagascar. Swaziland and Congo also played out a 0-0 draw. In the last game of the day, Burkina Faso scored a late goal to draw 1-1 with Gambia in Banjul as they finished well on top of Group F, although doubt still hangs over their participation in the final tournament. For the last automatic place, Algeria take on the Central African Republic on Sunday, while Morocco also face Tanzania in the same Group D. Any one of the four teams could qualify, with Sudan also possible qualifiers as the second-best runners-up if the results fall their way. Teams who have qualified for the African Nations Cup (+2 more): Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Botswana, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso*, Senegal, Ghana, Guinea, Zambia, Angola, Tunisia, Mali, Niger, Libya (best runner-up). * Facing possible legal action over the alleged use of an unqualified player vs Namibia which could see them thrown out of the tournament.NIGERIA FAIL TO QUALIFY FOR ANC
